Hiring is such a sensible option, particularly if you have just one event to attend. The hire period is usually from the Thursday prior to a Wedding, with return on the Monday after. We do realise of course that when you have to travel to a Wedding, the hire period needs extended accordingly. Hire for Ladies Day at the Races is just slightly shorter.
